A most extended exercise in multiculturalism unfolds in the 6-movements “Windows of the World”, written for the one which provides solo opportunities for several principal players in the band. Composer takes us first to Latin America, then to Southeast Asia to Japan, and onwards to sub-Saharan Africa. We get a gentle reprieve via a nostalgic hint of the British Isles before we land in the melting pot of all styles, the USA. The world seems by then a global musical village. “Rainforest”, the 2nd movement, explores the simple beauty of an equatorial tropical forest rain. The composer invites you to close your eyes and experience the soothing beginning of the birdsong, rain and a dense mist, and the quiet conclusion. If you listen closely, you can here the drops of the water falling from the leaf of the land. This ‘derivational’ one was drawn for HOWL, the coterie magazine of Project-D kemonomichi (HIRO et al. 2005).
