Poppies are native to California, they are our state flower and bloom February, March, and April (much like Sakura!). They bloom well if we have good rain in January and February so it’s very rare to see them lately as we have had very little rain. Seeing these across the street from my home for the first time in five years feels very special. I drive 2 hours to Antelope Valley every year to see them so I feel like kami-sama gave us a gift this year to have them so close to my home.
California poppies: February, March, and April. They need lots of water so we haven’t had many in recent years. They are very fragile and special.
