The Nasdaq 100 Index, which is dominated by high-tech stocks, was down 4.5% from the previous day. It is down 13% for the month, the biggest drop since October 2008. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 4.2%; the S&P 500 Index was down 3.6% at 4131.93, and major industry indexes were all lower. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down $939.18, or 2.8%, at $32977.21.
